Adapt Or Perish: Essential Strategies For Successful Content Marketing In 2024
It does not matter whether you are blogging, shooting reels, or posting photos or jokes on social media, you are publishing content.
Content is everywhere, whether on the internet, in magazines, television, or radio. There are various types of content - text, videos, audio, and photos.
And when they are online, they are known by various names. Texts are known as blogs or posts. Videos are known as reels, shorts, and memes. And audios are called podcasts.
You may have chosen to publish only one type of content for your online publishing business. But, in 2024 you must publish all kinds of content to do this business successfully.
Adapt or Perish
Google has changed. And so has social media.
Previously, it was easy to earn money from blogging. You could publish an article on your blog, optimize it for Search Engines, rank in the SERP, and get a ton of traffic. Most bloggers ignored any other platform because they could depend on Google to send traffic to their blogs.
But, Google does not send much traffic to blogs anymore. They changed their search engine to an 'answer engine' after AI came into being.
And previously, you could have earned a ton of views for your Facebook pages. But now, the Facebook algorithm limits the organic reach of the pages. You have to publish ads for them to reach more audiences on Facebook.
Slowly, others are catching up too. YouTube is making the game harder for you every day. So are Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit, etc.
To succeed in the online publishing business today, you must first understand that the game's rules have changed.
However, content was the king, always was, and will always be.
It's just that, you cannot afford to publish only one type of content and expect to earn a ton of traffic and money.
You must publish all types of content to survive these days. If it makes sense, you should publish videos, social media posts, articles, and even podcasts.
By publishing all types of content everywhere you are spreading the risk of not getting traffic or views in case one of the platforms decides to change their algorithm.
You must adapt or perish.
Build the Pillars
Modern algorithms want you to feed them a ton of content consistently so that they can keep their viewers engaged.
But you cannot depend only on one algorithm to earn. As I wrote above, if it changes one line of code, your traffic can come down to zero.
So, you must be everywhere. Spread your risks to as many algorithms as possible.
That's a pillar of any business - diversification. Unless you are diversified you are taking a big risk.
Another pillar for your online publishing business is an email list.
If you are not building your email list from day one in your business, you are taking a huge risk too.
Here are the three main advantages of building an email list:
- You do not have to depend on any algorithm to send traffic to your content.
- You will never lose traffic to your content.
- You can earn at will.
Search engines and social media platforms can send you traffic at their will. But email lists are yours. Nobody can take that away from you.
The last thing that I want you to know is that, having patience in any business, whether online or offline, is very important.
Remember, 'Rome was not built in a day'. You have to show up every day, do your job and be patient.
Content Marketing is hard. If it was easy, everybody could have become a millionaire.
Being patient is another pillar of your business. Strive for it.
Are you ready?
if you have the right mindset you are geared for success. A wrong mindset is a hindrance to your success.
So what have we learned?
- Content is still the king.
- Publishing one type of content is risky.
- Diversification to various platforms cuts down the risks.
- Building an email list is super important.
- Have patience.
With that, I hope you can become a very successful content marketer one day.
